Listen (John Batchelor): 20M unanswered calls at Internal Revenue Service this year

The Internal Revenue Service will answer only 61 percent of customer service calls this year – equating to 20 million unanswered calls – because of budget cuts.  That’s just one of the dire consequences of IRS budget cuts that National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson details in her annual report to Congress.  Those budget cuts are coming at the same time the IRS will have hugely increased responsibilities under the Affordable Care Act.  I talked about Ms. Olson’s status report on the IRS, and the latest from Washington on the ACA, on The John Batchelor Show with John and fellow guest Jeff Bliss of The Bliss Index last night.
