Whatever the new year holds at the Department of Defense, leadership changes at the top of the agency shouldn’t be subtle.  Major General Arnold Punaro (USMC ret.), the new Chairman of the National Defense Industrial Association and Chief Executive of The Punaro Group, is one of the leading voices on defense reform in Washington.  This profile in Forbes details how Punaro and his colleagues are trying to push DoD in new directions.

General Punaro shared with me his Top 3 for 2014, including a skills list for an incoming Deputy Defense Secretary.  Punaro says DoD should fully embrace the CEO/COO concept, with Secretary Chuck Hagel focused on external activities, while the replacement for Dr. Ashton Carter manages the agency day-to-day.
